Accounts

In viaContext™, the following types of accounts are available: the single user account, the group account and the business account.
Single User Account
The single user account makes the full functionality of viaContext™ available for a single user. All available functionality in archives and working folders can be used - uploading documents, versioning, metadata support, working folder management with links and comments and the creation of a custom portal. However, the documents cannot be exchanged with other users. For working with teams and organizations we recommend the group account or business account. The available disc space for the single user account is limited to 200 MB - 1 GB¹.
Group Account
Similar to the single user account, the group account makes the full functionality of viaContext™ available, but for up to 10 users¹ (the first user which creates the account is also the administrator of the account, every additional user can use the account key to join the account or is being added by the account owner). All users share one group. More groups are not available. The available disc space for the group account is limited to 500 MB - 3 GB¹.
Business Account
Similar to the group account, the business account makes the full functionality of viaContext™ available (up to 100 users¹), but also for an unlimited number of groups. The administrator can manage groups using the Java-applet based systems management console. The available disc space for the business account is limited to 1 GB - 10 GB¹.
An account is an organisational unit, which embraces all groups and users for your organisation or company. All rates for viaContext™ correspond to one account and its features (available disc space, max. number of users, etc.).
Public portal groups
In a custom portal, selected content can be released for public access. This can be done by granting the public portal group, which is associated with the portal, the appropriate access rights. Typically, public portal groups get automatically created while creating a custom portal (in the business account, public portal groups can be maintained manually as well). Public portal groups are not subject to account dependent group limitations described above.
Privacy
Every user registered with viaContext™ possesses private working folders and archives. Even when the user is member of a group account or business account, the user's private working folders and archives are only visible to him or herself, also the account administrator has no access to these resources (unless access has been granted explicitly).
(¹) All products and rates are described in the viaContext™ price list. Feel free to request a customized offer, if the products and rates offered do not suit your needs.
