| Access codes can simplify group management significantly, particularly in groups with many members: the account administrator can assign an access code for each group in the systems management console. This access code, comparable to a group password, can be used by other users to register themselves for a group. The account administrator is no longer required to add new group members by himself using the systems management console - every user can register him or herself for group membership by entering the access code. | | | Cross-Account Groups | | Access codes can be used for groups embracing users of more than one account as well: Account membership is not a prerequisite for the application of access codes. This enables the shared use of resources beyond the boundaries of a single account. Members of a particular account are usually also members of a single organisation. When an account member wants to exchange documents or resources with an external user, one often does not want to affiliate the external user into the account. In this situation, the external users can create their own account and can exchange document and resources with users of other accounts using a cross-account group. |
